The title of this post is from a lyric to the theme song of the popular sitcom Cheers. If you were born like in the 90s, you may not even aware of the show. But believe me, it was a hit back then. Anyway, that line is probably saying that, familiarity is important to us. Perhaps, not all of the times. But, sometimes, it is. Sometimes, it is canon. I suppose it is a natural urge of people as a social participant wanting to be in a place or a crowd or an environment where they are actually somebody.. or at least, where they are known to others. On top of that, their names are even known to the others. Maybe for some super secured egotistical self-centered jerk, such a thing is as trivial as breathing (or shitting). Unfortunately for the rest of us normal 9 to 5ers, it makes all the difference. If you are a boss (especially if you're a jerky one at that), you should know a thing or two about us 9 to 5ers. These people -- the 9 to 5ers -- they are very much aware of the fact that no amount of hours of work will get them to be a millionaire. They may aspire to be one but they are realistic as well. They come in, they fulfill their duties and they go home -- and after 25 days or so, they get paid. Believe it or not, they are happy. Sure, there's the mounting bills, the demanding wives, the unexplained irrational need for a new car every now and then but those are the accepted ordeals of life and they are willing to see them through. But please don't send them to a place where nobody knows their names. Of course, it is a metaphor. And to feel out of place is one of the worst feelings one can have. People lose people over such triviality, you know?

By the way, I just recalled another line of the lyric. Here is how it goes..

Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came.
